All materials used to produce Lunchskins bags are sourced from Hong Kong. B-Corp certification requires that ALL of our partners meet rigorous standards for quality, safety, fair labor, ethical business practices, and environmental responsibility.
We are actively searching for a North American / European partner to source our sustainable materials going forward but have found them difficult to procure given supply limitations and access to specific testing requirements. The US/North America does not currently produce the materials and testing that we require for our brand (no greenwashing here!).
Our BPI-Certification was also awarded outside of the US due to the fact there are no current BPI testing facilities domestically. We are working very hard with our local regulators to do all that we can to ensure that the US is stringent on sustainability.
Thank you for trusting Lunchskins to both make and market a truly sustainable product.
Our disposable food storage bags are free of toxins including: BPAs, Lead, Phthalates, PFAS.
We cannot advise the exact amount of time that it will take for our paper bags to decompose in your home composting process. However, on average it can take 2 weeks to 3 months. There are a lot of variables to the decomposition time, but, you can do certain things to speed up that process.
The amount of time the paper takes to decompose varies. For example, if the temperature drops to freezing, the paper won't decompose. Mixing items like banana peels, bread and strawberries, which mold quickly, with the paper increases the rate of decomposition. Worms will also make the process occur faster.
Our Patent-Pending Recyclable + Sealable Paper Bags are made from all natural unbleached glassine — a translucent but very durable form of paper from FSC-Certified forests.
Lunchskins BPI-Certified Compostable + Sealable Paper Bags are made from 100% FSC-Certified Kraft paper.

Some say forever and that's a mighty long time we're hear to tell you! Many of our Lunchskins fans send us emails and share photos with us on social media of their bags. We've seen photos of bags that are over 8 years old and still look brand new. While Lunchskins are extremely durable and can last for years, everyone’s care and daily use routines are different. If you find that you are in need of a Lunchskins bag refresh, don't throw the old ones out! Just retire them for other uses, like holding spare change, gift cards, small game pieces, school supplies, and extra stuff in your car, purse or backpack.
While Lunchskins are extremely durable and can last for years, Lunchskins are made from a quick-drying fabric, essentially they are still fabric. Too, the inside fabric is white, and white can discolor over time or when coming into contact with certain foods or other items in the dishwasher. We recommend spot treating any stains with dish soap and a small brush, or, washing them inside out in the washing machine.
We don’t think so. Lunchskins reusable food storage bags have so many practical and creative uses. Here is what our customers tell us........lipsticks, dog treats, wallet and keys, ice for boo-boos, pacifiers, baby toiletries, travel cosmetic case, and any other treats or loose messy items we want to fashionably stash away. And, much more!
Yes! They are free of BPAs, Phthalates, and Lead.
